The eight-year-old has perhaps never quite lived up to the promise he showed as a novice, but he’s capable of some high-class form on his day, including when running Shishkin close in the Grad 2 Denman Chase at Newbury in February. 

He struggled on his most recent start in last month’s Ryanair Chase, though the quicker conditions should suit better here. With the Champion Chaser Captain Guinness absent, El Fabiolo will be hoping to reinstate himself as the top two-miler around.
