Shrewsbury Town are improving according to James Bolton

Shrewsbury Town’s James Bolton has told the Shropshire Star that they are improving as a team.

The Shrews were at risk at relegation from Sky Bet League One this season but some end of the season form was able to pull them away from the bottom four. In the end, it was getting five wins out of the last ten games which secured their safety and they will now go into their final game of the season against local rivals Walsall more relaxed than they usually would be.

While this season may be a bit of a disappointment after they came so close to getting promoted last season after losing to Rotherham United in the play-off final, they were able to end well as new manager Sam Ricketts was able to get over his early issues and finish well this year. Bolton, who may not be with Shrewsbury next season as he is out of contract this summer, was happy with the way the team improved towards the end of the season.

He said: “I think that towards the end of the season you can tell we’ve played a lot better football. We’re seeing patterns in play now. I feel like we’re becoming a lot more stronger team.”

“We’re a bit of a counter team, especially away from home, I feel we do well when teams are attacking us and we can attack them quickly.”

“I think it’s just time for us to build and get chemistry between us all. But I can see it’s improving.”
